## Master the fundamentals of CSEC STATISTICS

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. differentiate between types of data;

2. construct a frequency table for a given set of data;

3. determine class features for a given set of data;

4. construct statistical diagrams;

Pie charts, bar charts, line graphs, histograms and frequency polygons.
5. interpret statistical diagrams;

6. determine measures of central tendency for raw, ungrouped and grouped data;
Mean, median and mode.
7. determine when it is most appropriate to use the mean, median and mode as the average for a set of data;

8. determine the measures of dispersion (spread) for raw, ungrouped and grouped data;
9. construct a cumulative frequency table for ungrouped and grouped data;
10. draw cumulative frequency curve (Ogive);

11. use statistical diagrams;

12. determine the proportion or percentage of the sample above or below a given value from raw data, table or cumulative frequency curve;
13. identify the sample space for sample experiment;

14. determine experimental and theoretical probabilities of events;

15. make inference(s) from statistics.

I was once a student just like you. I struggled with Mathematics for the first two (2) years of my secondary school life. In third form my teacher, Dr Sargeant, taught Mathematics in a unique way which allowed me to successfully learn the subject which I was passionate about. Her teaching enabled me to thrive in an area which I would eventually pursue as a career.

Therefore, I have successfully completed CXC's CSEC General Mathematics and CAPE Pure Mathematics Units 1 and 2 before obtaining a degree in Economics and Mathematics.

I have ten (10) years of experience teaching Mathematics at the secondary level in Barbados. During this time I have taught hundreds of students who have successfully completed the following courses:
